A guided walk and a day out usually on the last Saturday each month and some Bank Holidays. From 9.15am onwards.
General Information
- Unless otherwise stated within the programme we meet outside Fairfield on the last Saturday of every month, or on the adjacent Bank Holiday.
- In the first instance please call David or Derek for further information, or if you would like to lead a walk.
- Please bring your friends. We assemble at the church car park at 9.15am then using what vehicles are available we set off for the starting point by 9.30am.
- There is normally a pool of cars so please come and join us even if you do not have a vehicle.
- Our walks generally range from 3½ miles upwards and are classified as easy, moderate or challenging according to the degree of difficulty. Timings indicated are minimum times. The programme gives an indication of suggested lunch arrangements (if any). Please feel free to bring a light snack anyway
- All map references are based upon the OS Explorer 1:25 000 series for those wishing to meet up at the starting point.
- In the event of bad weather a decision is normally made en mass prior to setting out. But if it is obviously going to be difficult please call, David on 07740 283363 or Derek no later than 08.50 on the walk day.
- In any event the walk leader will still appear at the church to give the decision of abandonment.
- Walks are subject to change at short notice through weather conditions or otherwise.
- Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking, and bring some fluids to drink.

February 2010 — January 2011
- 27 February
- Bryant's Bottom, Bucks. (3¼ miles — 2¼ hrs).
Moderate –Terrain: Well marked paths, meadows and two steep ups/downs Stiles: 9 Bryant’s Bottom is in the middle of three valleys that span out from the upper reaches of Hughenden Valley. Since the time is spent in and out of these valleys, there are a few short steep hills to climb. This is lovely pastoral countryside, with very little to disturb the peace and quiet, despite being only 4 miles from High Wycombe. Start: On road opposite The Gate PH (Exp. 172 SU 857 995).

- Studham, Beds. (4¼ miles — 2-3 hrs).
Easy terrain. Easy, generally dry footpaths and bridleways. 2 stiles.
What could be better, to encourage children to walk, than a view of exotic animals (Whipsnade Animal Park) plus the National Trust Tree Cathedral in Whipsnade Village.
Start: Limited discreet parking in Studham (Exp 182 TL 016 156).
Pub Lunch at The Red Lion, Studham. - 5 April — Easter Monday Bank Holiday
- Waltham Abbey, Lee Valley Park Essex. (7½ miles — 4½ hrs).
Moderate – Terrain: Grassy riverside, steep field paths, green lanes prone to mud after rain, short stretches of road. Stiles: 5. This route provides good views over the Royal Gunpowder Mills, woodland and waterways. Start: Free Car Park at Cornill Meadow. (Exp. 174 TL 384 015).
Pub Lunch en route at the Coach & Horses. - 3 May — Monday Bank Holiday
- Ayot St Peter, Herts. (7 miles — 3½ hrs).
Moderate Terrain, 4 Stiles. Well marked paths over mainly flat ground) Start and Parking: roadside of St Peters Church Exp 182 GR 218150. An enjoyable walk through Hertfordshire countryside. Well marked paths take you through woodland and beside open meadows. We pass Shaw’s Corner owned by the National Trust.

- Windsor Great Park, Berks. (8 miles — 4 hrs).
Graded: Easy; Terrain: Drives, well-used paths and tracks, undulations – no steep hills. Stiles: None. Long established as one of the Queen’s favourite places. Windsor Great Park remains a haven of peace in the shadow of W London and Heathrow, a unique corner of Berkshire – a spacious very English Park of infinite beauty and grace. Start/parking: Bishopsgate one of the entrances to Windsor Great Park off the A328 nr Englefield Green Grid Reference: SU978722 Exp 160. Lunch: Bring own. - 26 June
- Richmond Park, London. (6¼ miles — 3 hrs).
Graded: Easy; Terrain: Well marked paths and bridleways. Enjoy a wonderful mix of panoramic views, wildlife haven and landscaped plantations, which are well worth seeing in all seasons. Start: Car Park at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park. (Exp. 161 TQ 189 728).
Lunch: Bring your own picnic. - 24 July
- West Wycombe, Bucks. (7 miles — 3½ hrs).
Moderate – Terrain: Field, woodland and parkland paths, some roads. Stiles: 5 A leisurely walk through fields and woodland with an opportunity of visiting the former home of Benjamin Disraeli. Start: Car park by church and mausoleum at West Wycombe. (Exp. 172 SU 826 952)
Pub Lunch en route The Bricklayers Arms Downley. - 30 August — Monday Bank Holiday
- Long Crendon, Bucks. (7½ miles — 3 hrs).
Moderate – Terrain: Mainly flat, some paths can flood after rain. Stiles: 25. Long Crendon derives its name from the old English Creodan-dun, meaning Creoda’s Hill. The Long was added because of its length. For three centuries it was one of the few places in England to manufacture needles. So a stitch in time will only save 1½ in this instance! Start: Park on High Street S.W. of the church. (Exp. 180 & 181 SP 697 090)
